Wix vs Webflow in 2026: When a Wix Business Website Should Move, and When It Should Stay

Most comparisons pick a winner for a made-up reader. This one starts with the site you already have, shows what each platform costs on the makers' own pages, and tells you when moving from Wix to Webflow pays off and when it does not. Prices checked 16 October 2026.

Wix vs Webflow in 2026: When a Wix Business Website Should Move, and When It Should Stay

Key takeaways

  • Stay on Wix if the site works. If one person edits it, it brings in enquiries, and the built-in bookings, shop or marketing tools carry the business, moving costs money and gives you little.
  • Move to Webflow when the design or the structure is the limit. That means a brand that has outgrown the template, pages you cannot lay out the way you need, a growing content library, or a team that wants more control over layout and SEO.
  • Expect a rebuild, not an export. Zapier's comparison rates Wix's code access as limited with no exports, so a move means building the pages again. What carries over is your content, your domain and your search history.
  • The prices are closer than the sales pages suggest. On 16 October 2026, Wix lists $17, $29 and $39 a month for its Light, Core and Business plans, and Webflow lists $15 and $25 a month per site, all billed yearly.
  • Check prices on the maker's page the day you decide. Wix says its prices vary by location and are shown for yearly subscriptions paid in full, and Webflow lists per-site plans plus separate Workspace plans.
  • A move is a search-engine project as much as a design project. Keep your URLs where you can, redirect the rest and check Search Console before and after.

A note before you read: we build on Webflow

Amariq builds websites for a living, and Webflow is the platform our founder, Rahat Khondokar, is certified in. We also build on WordPress, Shopify and Framer. Since Webflow work is part of our income, this is a studio's opinion. Every price and limit was copied from the maker's own page on the day shown, and any claim that came from a review site carries that site's name.

What each one is

Wix is an all-in-one website builder with hosting, a drag-and-drop editor, templates and built-in tools for bookings, payments and marketing. It has two editors: the standard Wix editor for most business owners, and Wix Studio, which adds grid-based layout and more breakpoints for designers and agencies.

Webflow is a visual builder and CMS that publishes to Webflow's hosting. You design the layout on a canvas with control over structure and styling, set up content in the CMS and publish. It asks more of you at the start and gives you more control afterwards.

What each platform charges

We copied these figures from both pricing pages on 16 October 2026. Wix says the prices it shows are for yearly subscriptions paid in full at purchase, vary by location and exclude tax. Webflow quotes US dollars for each site, billed yearly, with tax added when you pay.

PlanPublished priceWhat it coversTwo years
Wix Light$17 a monthThe basics, 2 GB of storage$408
Wix Core$29 a monthEngage your audience, 50 GB of storage$696
Wix Business$39 a monthPayments, standard ecommerce, scheduling, 10 collaborators, 100 GB$936
Webflow Basic$15 a monthCustom domain, 300 static pages, no CMS$360
Webflow Premium$25 a monthAdds the CMS and 20,000 CMS items$600
Webflow Premium with a paid Workspace (Core)$25 plus $19 a monthAdds code export, custom code and 10 staging sites$1,056

How to read it:

  • A single owner rarely needs the paid Workspace. Webflow's free Starter Workspace includes one full seat. The paid Core Workspace, at $19 a month billed yearly, is where Webflow lists code export. If you want to be able to export your site's code, count it.
  • Wix packs more tools into the plan. Bookings, payments and marketing tools sit inside the Business plan, while on Webflow you connect separate tools. Add what you would pay for those tools before you call Webflow cheaper.
  • Prices move and differ by country. Wix says prices vary by location, and both makers change plans often. Read the page for your own country before you decide, and see what a Webflow website costs for the full stack.

Two cells rest on someone else's claim. The SEO row on Wix comes from Duck Design's June 2026 review, and the export row comes from Zapier's comparison. Both sites change their products often, so check the current limits in your own account before you decide.

When a Wix site should move to Webflow

A site should move when one of these is true and a refresh will not fix it:

  1. The design is capped by the template. You keep working around the layout, and every new page looks like a compromise.
  2. The brand has changed. New positioning, a new audience or a higher price point needs pages that tell a different story.
  3. The content has grown. You have a library of posts, case studies or locations that need real structure.
  4. Marketing needs more control. They want to change structure, schema, redirects or page speed without asking.
  5. Pages load slowly and you have tried the usual fixes. See the speed test in our guide to the signs a website needs a redesign.

When a Wix site should stay

  • It converts. Enquiries per 100 visits are steady or rising.
  • You use its tools every day. Bookings, memberships or a small shop are running well. If the shop is growing, our guide to Shopify vs WooCommerce covers the platforms built for selling.
  • Nobody on your team has time to learn a new platform.
  • The only complaint is the look. Refresh the key pages first.

A Wix site that ticks these boxes is doing its job. A move would cost you the rebuild, a redirect plan and a few weeks of risk, and the new platform will not fix an unclear offer.

What a move involves

The steps below are the short version of our website redesign SEO checklist.

With no site export from Wix, according to Zapier's comparison, the new Webflow site is built rather than imported. In practice that is five jobs:

  1. Inventory every URL. List every page that gets traffic or links, from Search Console, your analytics and a crawl.
  2. Rebuild the pages. Copy the content across, and use the move to fix structure and speed.
  3. Keep the URLs. Match old addresses where you can and 301 redirect the ones that change.
  4. Move the domain carefully. Keep the domain registered where it is, or transfer it, and copy email records exactly.
  5. Check after launch. Compare Search Console, test every form and watch for errors for the first few weeks.

The redirect map and the checks around launch are laid out on our Webflow migration page, and the same steps appear in our account of leaving Webflow for a static site on Cloudflare.

How we advise a Wix owner

Our first call with a Wix owner starts with the problem you are trying to solve, not with a platform pitch. When your tests point to a structural problem, we redesign with a conversion focus and rebuild on the platform that fits. A marketing site usually takes three to six weeks, and the milestones and delivery date are settled before work starts. For other comparisons, start with Webflow vs WordPress, then Duda vs Webflow for the agency-built option and Squarespace vs Webflow vs Framer for three more. If you are weighing studios, the best Webflow agencies for 2026 list covers what to ask.

Frequently asked questions

Is Webflow better than Wix?

Not for every site. Webflow comes out ahead when design control, content structure and long-term flexibility matter. Wix wins when you want a quick launch, built-in bookings, payments and marketing tools, and a gentle learning curve. The deciding facts are who edits the site and the job it has to do.

What is a disadvantage of using Wix?

Mainly portability and flexibility. Zapier's review rates Wix's code access as limited with no exports, and Duck Design says its schema and redirect controls are narrower. If your site outgrows the template, moving means a rebuild. For a small, steady site, that rarely matters.

Is Webflow cheaper than Wix?

It depends on what you count. On 16 October 2026, Webflow lists $15 and $25 a month per site and Wix lists $17, $29 and $39 a month, all billed yearly. Wix includes more built-in business tools, and Webflow's paid Workspace plans add cost. Compare two-year totals with the tools you need.

Do professional web designers use Wix?

Some do, mostly through Wix Studio, which is built for agencies and adds a grid layout and more breakpoints. Many designers prefer Webflow for design control and code export. Judge a studio by its live client sites, not by the platform it names.

Is Webflow better for SEO than Wix?

Both can rank. Webflow gives more direct control over schema, redirects and structure, and Wix has added tools for titles, descriptions and indexing. What lifts a page in search is the quality of the content, the links pointing to it, its speed and stable addresses, and neither platform makes up for a thin site.

Can I move my site from Wix to Webflow?

Yes. Zapier's comparison says Wix offers no export, so the pages are rebuilt on Webflow. Keep your URLs where you can, redirect any that change, keep your domain and email records safe, and compare Search Console before and after the move.

How long does it take to move from Wix to Webflow?

The answer turns on the size of the site and how much of its structure changes. Once the design is approved, we usually build a Webflow marketing site in three to six weeks. A one-page site is quicker, and a large content library takes longer.

What is the difference between Wix and Wix Studio?

Wix is the standard builder for business owners. Wix Studio is a more advanced editor for designers and agencies, with grid-based positioning and extra breakpoints, according to Edition's comparison. Check which one your site uses before you compare features.

Will I lose my Google rankings if I leave Wix?

Not if the move is planned. Losses come from changed URLs without redirects, deleted pages and a slower new site. Map every old address to a new one, test the redirects before launch and watch Search Console afterwards.
