Webflow vs Static Site on Cloudflare: What We Learned
We moved amariq.com from Webflow to a hand-coded static site on Cloudflare. Real costs, the checks that matter, and who each platform suits.
Web Design
Most lists of Webflow alternatives are a row of website builders with a star rating. The better question is what Webflow is not doing for you. We read the pricing pages of Webflow and seven alternatives on 23 October 2026, so here is which one fits which problem, and what two years costs.
Stay on Webflow if your problem is only the learning curve. Move to Framer if designers edit a small site and you want a cheaper start. Move to WordPress if content volume or plugins are the point. Pick Squarespace or Wix if the owner edits alone and wants simple. Use a static site if one technical person edits and you want to own every file. If the real need is user logins and stored data, you do not want a website builder at all, and an app builder fits better.
Who is writing: Amariq builds sites on Webflow and Framer and sells that work, and we moved our own site off Webflow to a static site in September 2026. Rahat Khondokar, who founded the studio, holds the Webflow developer certification. We have a stake in two of the options below, so read it knowing a studio wrote it. Every price comes from the maker's own page on 23 October 2026, in USD, on yearly billing unless we say otherwise.
People look for an alternative for one of six reasons. Name yours before you read the rest.
| Your problem | What to look at | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The monthly cost | Framer, WordPress.com, Webstudio, a static site | Lower entry prices, with different trade-offs |
| You find it hard to use | Squarespace, Wix | Template-first editors with fewer settings |
| Your content is huge or complex | WordPress | The largest plugin and content-type ecosystem |
| You want to sell online | Shopify or WooCommerce | Built for stores first |
| You need logins, accounts or a database | An app builder such as Softr or Bubble | Website builders are not made for it |
| You want to own the code | A static site, or Webstudio | Files you can host anywhere |
Webflow's pricing page lists a free Starter plan (a webflow.io domain, 2 static pages, 1 GB bandwidth), Basic at $15 a month (custom domain, 300 static pages, 10 GB bandwidth, no CMS), and Premium at $25 a month (the CMS, more bandwidth tiers, site search). The Team platform plan is $2,500 a month on an annual contract. Our longer breakdown is in the Webflow cost guide.
Framer's pricing page lists Basic at $10 and Pro at $30 a month on yearly billing. Basic has 2 CMS collections, 1,000 CMS items and 50 GB of bandwidth. Pro has 10 collections, 2,500 items and 100 GB. Extra editors are $20 each and content editors $10. It fits a marketing site that designers edit; for a content library, read our Webflow vs Framer comparison.
Wix's plans page lists Light at $17, Core at $29, Business at $39 and Business Elite at $159 a month, with 2, 5, 10 and 100 collaborators. That is regular Wix, not Wix Studio, which is aimed at agencies and has its own plans. Our Wix vs Webflow comparison goes through the trade-offs.
Squarespace's pricing page, read on 23 October 2026, shows the Advanced plan at $25 a month with unlimited contributors, a free custom domain, CSS and JavaScript customization, and 0% transaction fees on online stores. We could not read the page's other plan cards in full, so check them before you decide. How it stacks up against Webflow and Framer is in this three-way comparison.
WordPress.com's pricing page lists Personal at $4, Premium at $8, Business at $25 and Commerce at $45 a month, billed every 12 months. Business adds 50 GB of storage and SFTP, SSH and GitHub deployments. Note that WordPress.com is the hosted service; WordPress.org is the free software you host yourself, and the self-hosted route has costs the table does not show. Read our Webflow vs WordPress comparison before you choose.
Webstudio's pricing page lists a Free plan (unlimited projects and pages, a wstd.io subdomain, project export) and Pro at $15 a month billed yearly (custom domains, 100,000 page views a month, staging and production publishing). It also lists "Paste from Webflow" and a static export. It is a smaller ecosystem than Webflow's, so check that the features you rely on are there.
Cloudflare's Pages documentation says the Free plan allows 500 builds a month, up to 20,000 files per site, 25 MiB per file and 100 custom domains per project. That covers most small business sites with room to spare. Your cost is the domain plus the time of whoever builds and edits it. We wrote up our own move in Webflow vs a static site on Cloudflare.
Softr's own comparison, updated 18 September 2026, says Webflow can build basic user accounts but that portals and internal tools get complicated, and lists Softr as free with paid plans from $19 a month billed yearly. That is a maker's view of a rival, so test it with your own case. A client portal, a member directory or a CRM is an app, and a site builder is the wrong tool for it.
This is our arithmetic from the prices above, for one site on yearly billing, with no domain, add-ons or extra seats.
| Set-up | Monthly | Two years |
|---|---|---|
| Webflow Basic | $15 | $360 |
| Webflow Premium (CMS) | $25 | $600 |
| Framer Basic | $10 | $240 |
| Framer Pro | $30 | $720 |
| Wix Light | $17 | $408 |
| Wix Business | $39 | $936 |
| WordPress.com Personal | $4 | $96 |
| WordPress.com Business | $25 | $600 |
| Webstudio Pro | $15 | $360 |
| Cloudflare Pages Free plan | $0 | $0 |
Read the table with care. A plan price is only the hosting. The real cost of a site also includes who builds it, who edits it, and what happens when something breaks, and those differ more between platforms than the fees do.
We looked at the pages Google showed for "webflow alternatives" on 23 October 2026: Experte, Softr, Flowout, Squarespace, Webstudio, TeleportHQ and Elementor. We read the Softr and Flowout guides in full and the others only from their search listings, so the points below are about those two. Three gaps stood out.
If you decide on a static site and want a studio to build it, read our list of agencies for static sites on Cloudflare and Vercel first.
Whatever you choose, treat the move as a rebuild with a content move. Export your content and assets, list your CMS fields, rebuild the components, then keep a permanent redirect for every address that changes. Our website redesign SEO checklist covers the steps in order, and we cover the other direction in our WordPress to Webflow migration guide. If you only need one person to run a small site, the cost saving from leaving is a few hundred dollars a year, so weigh it against the effort.
At Amariq we build on Webflow and Framer and we also run our own site as a static site, so we recommend from how your team will run the site after launch. We price projects from their scope, never by the hour, and bill them in three steps: 40% at the start, 30% when you approve the design and 30% before launch. After the last payment you own the design, the text and the code, and the domain, hosting and analytics logins are registered to you. See our Webflow, Framer and WordPress services.
It depends on the problem. Framer fits a design-led site on a smaller budget, WordPress fits large content and plugin needs, Squarespace and Wix fit owners who edit alone, and a static site fits one technical editor who wants to own the files.
Webflow has a free Starter plan, but it limits you to a webflow.io domain and 2 static pages. Webstudio has a free plan with export, Framer has a free plan without a custom domain, and Cloudflare Pages hosts a static site on its free plan.
For a small, design-led site that designers edit, often yes, and it is cheaper to start. For a large CMS, a shared class system or ecommerce, Webflow is usually the better fit.
Yes, for content-heavy sites and plugin-driven needs. The trade is upkeep: updates, security and hosting stay with you on WordPress.org, and WordPress.com handles hosting but limits what you can change on lower plans.
A website builder is the wrong tool for logins and stored data. App builders such as Softr or Bubble are made for portals, internal tools and member areas, and many teams keep their marketing site separate.
It can if you drop addresses. Keep every URL, or add a permanent 301 redirect from each old address to its new one, and carry over your Search Console and analytics properties.
Often not. Webflow Basic is $15 a month, so moving a single site saves a few hundred dollars a year at most. Move when something is blocking you, not for the price alone.
