Squarespace vs Webflow vs Framer for a Small Business in 2026: Prices and the Limits That Bite

Headline prices for these three platforms sit within a few dollars of each other, so the price is not the decision. The limits are: who can edit, how much code you can add, how big the CMS can grow and whether redirects come with the plan. All checked on 16 October 2026.

Squarespace vs Webflow vs Framer for a Small Business in 2026: Prices and the Limits That Bite

Key takeaways

  • Squarespace is the simplest and the most complete for a small shop or service site. On 16 October 2026 its plans are $12, $17 and $25 a month billed annually, and the payment, scheduling and email tools sit inside the account.
  • Webflow gives the most design and structure control. Its site plans are $15 and $25 a month per site, and the CMS only starts on the $25 plan.
  • Framer is the fastest route to a designed marketing site. Its yearly plans are $10 and $30 a month, with extra editors at $20 a month each.
  • The limits matter more than the price. Squarespace's cheapest plan allows two contributors and no custom code. Framer's cheapest plan allows two CMS collections and does not list site redirects. Webflow's cheapest plan has no CMS.
  • Check redirects before you migrate. Framer's Pro plan card lists site redirects and its Basic card does not, and redirects protect your search rankings when addresses change.
  • Choose by who edits, how the site grows and whether you sell online. The right answer for a restaurant is not the right answer for a product launch page.

A note before you read: we build on two of the three

Amariq builds on Webflow and on Framer, and our founder, Rahat Khondokar, is a certified Webflow developer. Squarespace facts come from Squarespace's own pages. Because we sell Webflow and Framer work, weigh this as a studio's view. Prices and limits come from each maker's own page on the date shown, in US dollars, and claims from other sellers are labelled.

What each one is

Squarespace is a managed website product. You choose a template, edit it in Squarespace's editor, and pay one plan that includes hosting and built-in tools for payments, scheduling and email campaigns. Its plans list a free custom domain, with conditions shown on its page.

Webflow is a visual development tool with a CMS. You design the layout and structure on a canvas, set up content in the CMS and publish to Webflow's hosting, paying per site.

Framer started as a design and prototyping tool and now publishes websites. It is aimed at designers and teams who want animated marketing sites quickly, with a CMS and AI features, priced by plan and by editor.

What it costs, from the makers' own pages

Prices were read on 16 October 2026 in US dollars. Squarespace and Framer show annual billing, and Webflow lists prices per site billed yearly.

PlanPriceLimit that bitesTwo years
Squarespace Basic$12 a month, annual2 contributors, 2% store fee, no custom code$288
Squarespace Core$17 a month, annualUnlimited contributors, CSS and JavaScript, 0% store fee$408
Squarespace Advanced$25 a month, annualLowest payment fees, advanced commerce tools$600
Webflow Basic$15 a month per siteNo CMS, 300 static pages$360
Webflow Premium$25 a month per siteCMS with 20,000 items and 40 collections$600
Framer Basic$10 a month, yearly2 CMS collections, 30 pages, 50 GB bandwidth, site redirects not listed$240
Framer Pro$30 a month, yearly10 CMS collections, 150 pages, site redirects, staging$720

Notes on the numbers:

  • Framer charges for editors. Additional editors are $20 a month each, content editors $10, and viewers are free. A team of four editors on Pro adds $60 a month for the three beyond the first.
  • Squarespace lists a free custom domain on its plans, with an asterisk and conditions on its page. Check them before you count the saving.
  • Webflow's workspace plans are separate. The free Starter Workspace includes one full seat, and paid plans start at $19 a month billed yearly.
  • Squarespace's free trial lasts 14 days, and it says paying annually saves up to 36%.
  • The billing period changes the numbers. Squarespace says paying annually saves up to 36%, so a review that quotes monthly billing will show higher prices than the ones above. Read each page the day you decide.

The limits that bite

Who can edit

Squarespace's Basic plan allows up to two contributors, and Core and Advanced allow unlimited. Framer allows ten seats on Basic and Pro with extra editors charged. Webflow's free Starter Workspace includes one full seat, and your team needs to check how it will edit. If several people publish, ask each platform how seats are counted before you sign.

Custom code

Squarespace's pricing page lists "complete customization with CSS and JavaScript" under Core and Advanced, and not under Basic. If you need tracking scripts, custom widgets or fine styling, plan on Core. Webflow lists custom code as a site-plan feature too, so confirm it on the plan you choose.

CMS size

A blog, case studies or a team page need a CMS. Webflow's Basic plan has none, and Premium gives 20,000 items. Framer allows 2 collections on Basic and 10 on Pro. Squarespace handles blog posts and similar content within its templates. If your content will grow, choose by the limit you will hit in two years.

Redirects

When you change a site's addresses, redirects protect your rankings. Framer's Pro plan lists site redirects, and its Basic plan does not. For Webflow and Squarespace, confirm which plan includes redirect management before you migrate. Our website redesign SEO checklist explains the redirect map.

Selling online

Squarespace's plans list the store fee: 2% on Basic, then 0% on Core and Advanced, with a separate fee on digital content and memberships. Webflow has its own ecommerce plans. We found no store plan in the Framer pricing text we read, so confirm how you would take payments. If the shop is the business, look at Shopify vs WooCommerce. If you take bookings with payments, our event services website guide shows how one was built.

If you decide to move

Pages built on one of these platforms do not move to another as they are, so a move means rebuilding them. Keep every address that earns traffic, redirect the ones that change, protect your domain and email records, and compare Search Console before and after. The steps are in our website redesign SEO checklist, and our Webflow migration page covers the redirect map.

Six questions to decide

  1. Who edits, and how many people? More than two editors rules out some plans and changes the cost of others.
  2. Do you need custom code? If yes, avoid Squarespace Basic.
  3. How big will the content grow? A large blog or many case studies favours Webflow Premium or Framer Pro.
  4. Do you sell online? If yes, compare fees and tools before design.
  5. How much do you care about design? A distinctive layout favours Webflow or Framer.
  6. Will you ever change address structure? If yes, confirm redirect support on your plan.

When your answers split, let questions 1 and 4 decide, since they drive the cost and the risk.

How we advise a small business

At Amariq, the first call is about your goals, who edits and what the site must do, and the proposal names the platform. A Webflow build from an approved design usually takes three to six weeks, and a focused Framer marketing site two to five, with milestones and a delivery date agreed before work starts. We build Framer sites with components and a CMS from the start, and hand over a recorded walkthrough so your team can create pages. See our Webflow development and Framer development pages, our SaaS marketing website structure for product launches, and our Webflow vs WordPress guide for the wider choice.

Frequently asked questions

Which is better, Squarespace or Webflow?

Neither for every site. Squarespace is simpler and includes payments, scheduling and email tools, so it suits small sites that sell or book. Webflow gives more design and structure control and a larger CMS, so it suits distinctive sites with content. Choose by who edits and how the site will grow.

Which is better, Webflow or Framer?

Webflow is stronger for structured content and long-term growth, with a CMS of up to 20,000 items on Premium. Framer is faster for a designed, animated marketing site, with plans at $10 and $30 a month on yearly billing. Check Framer's page, redirect and editor limits against your needs.

Which is better, Framer or Squarespace?

Framer gives more design and animation control and suits teams who want a distinctive marketing site. Squarespace is easier for non-designers and includes built-in business tools. The limits differ: Squarespace caps contributors on Basic, and Framer charges for extra editors.

What is the cheapest of the three?

On yearly billing, Framer Basic at $10 a month is lowest on the page, then Squarespace Basic at $12 and Webflow Basic at $15. The cheapest plans have the tightest limits, so compare the plan you would actually need.

Which is best for SEO?

All three let you set titles, descriptions and clean URLs, and all can rank. Rankings come from content, links, speed and keeping your addresses stable. Check that your plan supports redirects before you change any address.

Which is best for an online shop?

Squarespace lists store fees by plan and includes commerce tools, and Webflow has ecommerce plans. If the shop is the business, a platform built for selling, such as Shopify, may fit better. Compare fees and tools before you design.

Can I move from Squarespace to Webflow or Framer?

Yes, by rebuilding the pages on the new platform. Keep your addresses where you can, redirect the ones that change, and protect your domain and email records. Confirm redirect support on the plan you will use.

Do I need a developer for any of these?

Not for a simple Squarespace site. Webflow and Framer reward a designer or studio at the start, and your team can then edit content. A good build gives editors controls without the risk of breaking layouts.
