Framer vs Wix in 2026: Which One Fits Your Website, With Prices From Both Makers

Most Framer vs Wix pages are written by a tool maker or an affiliate, and the prices in them drift out of date. This guide puts both platforms side by side on the things that decide the choice: what you pay, who can edit, whether you can sell, how the CMS is capped and whether you can take your site with you. Plan figures were checked on 1 November 2026, and where a figure is not from a maker's page we say whose it is.

Framer vs Wix in 2026: Which One Fits Your Website, With Prices From Both Makers

Key takeaways

  • Pick Framer when design is the product. It suits a marketing site, portfolio or landing pages where layout, motion and brand matter more than built-in business tools.
  • Pick Wix when the site has to run the business. Selling, bookings and marketing tools sit inside Wix's plans. On Framer you connect them yourself.
  • The entry price favours Framer, the team price may not. In the US view, Framer Basic is $10 a month paid yearly and Wix Light is $17. But Framer charges $20 a month for each extra editor, while Wix plans include collaborators.
  • Neither lets you walk away easily. Wix offers no site export. Framer's own help pages give mixed answers on code export, so plan for a rebuild if you ever leave either one.
  • Check the country on the price you read. Framer says tax is added by location, and Wix notes that price and currency change with location. The Wix page on the Mac we used showed $17.77, not $17.

Disclosure: Amariq is a web design studio. Our studio works in Framer, Webflow, WordPress and Shopify, as well as Wix, Squarespace and hand-written code. Neither Framer nor Wix pays us anything. We did not build a test site on either for this guide. The facts below come from the pages named beside them.

What the ranking pages say, and what is missing

Our search for "framer vs wix" ran on Google's US English results, dated 1 November 2026. The results included Framer's own comparison page, a Wix blog post comparing Wix Studio with Framer, Siter.io, ESEOspace, Cybernews, Goodspeed and several software directories.

The two makers each argue their own case. Framer's comparison admits Wix suits sites where commerce, bookings or payments come first, but gives no numbers on Wix. The Wix blog post lists Framer plans Framer no longer sells (a $75 Startup and a $200 Scaleup plan). Siter.io is a competitor, and Goodspeed is a Framer agency.

So the gap is not another feature list. It is a dated comparison that adds up the real cost of the team around the site, and says plainly when each platform is the wrong choice. That is what follows.

What each one charges

Framer's figures come from framer.com/pricing and Framer's help pages. The Wix figures are the US-view prices reported in an October 2026 comparison (ESEOspace, 5 October 2026) and match what Wix's plans page listed when we checked it a week earlier for our Wix cost guide. Wix states that prices vary by location and are listed for yearly plans paid in full, before tax, so check your own checkout.

Framer prices each published site separately, so two sites need two plans. Neither price includes the domain after year one, apps or card fees.

The cost of the people around the site

This is the line most comparisons skip. Framer includes the workspace owner for free, then charges per seat:

Framer seatPrice on 1 November 2026What it can do
Workspace ownerFreeEverything
Additional editor$20 a monthDesign, edit and publish
Content editor$10 a monthEdit CMS, localization and on-page text
ViewerFreeView and comment

Framer's help page adds that editor seats are billed monthly even on a yearly plan. Wix has no seat price list on its plans page. Each plan simply includes a number of collaborators: 2 on Light, 5 on Core, 10 on Business.

Here is what that does to a yearly bill, using the yearly plan prices above. Roles differ between the two products, so treat this as a rough guide.

TeamFramerWix
Owner only, simple siteBasic, $120Light, $204
Owner plus two content editorsBasic $120 plus 2 x $120 = $360Light, $204
Owner plus two full editorsBasic $120 plus 2 x $240 = $600Light, $204
Owner plus four full editors, bigger CMSPro $360 plus 4 x $240 = $1,320Business, $468

Over three years, the owner-only site costs $360 on Framer Basic and $612 on Wix Light. The owner plus four editors costs $3,960 on Framer Pro and $1,404 on Wix Business. The seats are the big line for a team. Our Framer cost guide adds up build fees too.

Selling, bookings and business tools

Wix is the clear winner here. Its plans page lists accepting payments, scheduling and services, and eCommerce on Core and above, with the marketing suite growing at each step. Framer's pricing page lists no store, cart or checkout. Framer's comparison page says plainly that Wix suits sites where commerce, bookings or payments come first.

On Framer you add selling by embedding a service such as a Shopify buy button or a payment link. That works for a handful of products. A real store with stock levels, orders and shipping rules is a different thing. When selling is the main job, pick a platform made for it, such as those in our guide to Shopify vs WooCommerce.

Design control, CMS and SEO

Design. Framer is a canvas editor in the style of Figma. You place elements freely, set breakpoints side by side and add motion without code. Wix has the standard editor for business owners and Wix Studio for designers and agencies. Wix Studio is the closer match to Framer, and it is the one Wix compares itself against in its own blog.

CMS. Framer Basic caps you at 2 collections and 1,000 items. Pro raises that to 10 collections and 2,500 items, and paid add-ons stretch it to 40 collections and 40,000 items. Wix's support page lists Wix Studio at 1,500 items on Basic, 4,000 on Standard, 20,000 on Plus and 10,000,000 on Elite, though Wix's own pages disagree on the top figure, so confirm it if you are near that size. Read more in our Framer CMS guide.

SEO. Both publish clean pages with sitemaps, SSL and editable titles and descriptions, according to ESEOspace. The difference is redirects. Framer lists site redirects on the Pro plan, not on Basic. Wix lists a redirect manager that handles up to 5,000 redirects. Redirects matter when an old site is being replaced, as our website redesign SEO checklist explains.

When to keep your current platform

  • Keep Wix if the site sells and works. A store or bookings flow that brings in money is worth more than a better-looking homepage. Refresh the pages first.
  • Keep Wix when a single person edits it and cannot spare time for a new tool.
  • Keep Framer if your team is small and design-led. Moving a working Framer site only to gain a store is rarely worth it. Embed a store or add a second site on a store platform.
  • Neither fits if you need a deep CMS, member areas and custom logic. Compare Webflow vs Framer or Wix vs Webflow.

Moving between them

A move in either direction is a rebuild. Wix offers no site export, and blog posts cannot be exported, according to ESEOspace. Framer's help pages give mixed answers on downloading published files. Write down every URL first and keep the addresses unchanged where possible. Redirect the rest (on Framer that needs Pro), handle domain and email records with care, then keep an eye on Search Console for a few weeks.

How we help at Amariq

The choice between these two tends to hinge on two things: whether the site will sell, and how many people will edit it. We ask both on the first call, then tell you which platform fits, even when the answer is Wix and not a build from us. Our team builds and maintains sites across Framer, Wix, Webflow, WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace and custom code. Our Framer development page covers marketing sites with CMS and components, and our web design service covers the design side on any platform. Pricing is set by the size of the job, not by the hour.

Frequently asked questions

Is Framer better than Wix?

For design-led marketing sites, usually yes. For sites that sell, take bookings or need many built-in tools, no. The better one is the one that matches the job the site does and the number of people who edit it.

Is Framer cheaper than Wix?

On entry plans, yes. Seen from the US, a yearly Framer Basic plan is $10 a month and Wix Light is $17. With several editors, Framer can cost more, because each extra editor is $20 a month. Compare your own team size before you decide.

Can Framer sell products like Wix?

Not natively. Framer's pricing page lists no store, cart or checkout, so you connect a service such as Shopify or a payment link. Wix has store tools from its Core plan upward.

Which is better for SEO, Framer or Wix?

Both can rank. They publish clean pages with sitemaps and editable titles and descriptions. Wix lists a redirect manager on its plans, while Framer lists redirects on Pro only. Content quality, speed and links matter more than the platform.

Can I export my site from Wix or Framer?

Wix offers no site export, though CMS collections and store products export as CSV. Framer's help pages are mixed on downloading published files. Plan for a rebuild with either, and keep your content and URLs listed.

Do prices differ by country?

Yes. Framer adds sales tax by location. Wix notes that price and currency change with location. The Wix page on a Bangladesh-based Mac showed $17.77 for Light, where US-view sources show $17. Read the price at checkout.

Is this financial advice?

No. It is a comparison of published plans. Check the current figures on framer.com/pricing and wix.com/plans before you pay.
