Best Web Design Agencies for Trades and Home Services in 2026

Plumbers, roofers, electricians and HVAC companies are sold websites in three very different ways: a one-time build, a monthly plan, or a website bundled into a marketing retainer. The sticker price hides which one you are buying. We read the pages of five studios that build for the trades on 27 October 2026 and worked out what each costs over one year and three years, and who keeps the site if you leave.

Best Web Design Agencies for Trades and Home Services in 2026

Key takeaways

  • Price models differ more than prices. On the pages we read, a trade website costs $79 a month (MP Digital), from $695 or $997 one-time (Visible Owl, Ideal Media Pro), or $12,000 over a year when paired with a marketing service (Hook Agency).
  • Three-year cost is the fair comparison. A $79 monthly plan is $2,844 over three years. A $997 build is $997 plus whatever hosting you pay. Hook Agency's standard site alone is $12,000.
  • Ownership is written down by only some. Visible Owl says your domain and Google accounts stay in your name, Ideal Media Pro says you own the code, and Blue Corona says it has no website ownership clauses. The MP Digital page we read does not say.
  • The best-known list for this search was written by one of the agencies on it, and its figure for Hook Agency does not match Hook's own pricing page.
  • Ranking rule: cheapest published entry price first. Position is not a verdict on quality, and no studio paid us.

The short answer

For a one-truck or small crew business that wants to own its site and pay once, Ideal Media Pro publishes $997 for up to ten pages and Visible Owl publishes prices from $695 with no contract. If you would rather spread the cost and have hosting and fixes handled, MP Digital's plan starts at $79 a month. If you already spend thousands a month on ads and SEO and want one team for everything, Hook Agency and Blue Corona sell websites as part of that bigger engagement.

A note on bias: Amariq builds sites for service businesses, so we kept ourselves out of the comparison. Every row below repeats the studio's own words from its site as it stood on 27 October 2026, and our terms sit near the end.

What the ranking lists leave out

Our Google search (United States, English) on 27 October 2026 was "best web design agencies for home services and contractors". The results were mostly agencies listing themselves: Blue Corona's service page, a Semrush agency directory, Ideal Media Pro's "7 Best" list (8 July 2026), Home Service Web Design, BRIX Agency's construction list, GoRizen's list (which names its own Rizen first), Hook Agency's HVAC list and FatCat Strategies.

We read the Ideal Media Pro list in full. It discloses that it puts itself first, and it makes a fair point that the pricing model matters more than the design. But most of its competitor prices are not from the competitors' pages. It gives Hook Agency as "$5,000 to $10,000+ for website plus monthly retainer". Hook's own pricing page, read the same day, shows $12,000 for a standard site and $24,000 for a custom one, each split over twelve months. It also gives two different savings figures for the same comparison: an average of $10,447 over three years in one place and $12,647 in another.

Its own service page has a smaller mismatch: the process heading says "From hello to live in 5 days" while the same page promises 48 to 72 hours. The footnote explains the shorter time applies to standard packages "with approved content".

The gap is simple. No page we read put each studio's published price next to what it costs over three years and who owns the site at the end. The comparison below fills that gap.

The one-year and three-year figures are our arithmetic from each published price and leave out tax, domains and ad spend. All amounts are the US dollar figures each studio printed that day.

MP Digital

MP Digital's contractor pricing page lists a monthly website plan from $79 a month covering design and build, a mobile-friendly site, hosting, ongoing maintenance, technical updates, lead forms, click-to-call and "basic content and website copy guidance". It says hosting and fixes are not billed separately. Larger or custom sites are quoted one by one, and ongoing SEO is a separate, optional service. At $79 a month the site costs $948 a year and $2,844 over three years.

Good fit: a small trade business that wants no upfront bill and someone else to keep the site running. Weak point: the pricing page does not state a minimum term or what happens to the site if you cancel, so ask before you sign.

Visible Owl

Visible Owl's contractor page says prices "start at $695, published up front, and the site is yours to keep", with no contract, no exit fee, and your domain and Google accounts kept in your name. It starts each site from a template for your trade (twelve trades are listed) and says a starter site can go live the same day it has your content.

Until 31 October 2026 it also offers monthly plans: a one-page site from $99 a month and a five-page site from $179 a month. The small print says these require its hosting plan at $45 a month and that copywriting, extra pages, branding and domains cost extra. So the real monthly cost is $144 or $224, which is $1,728 or $2,688 a year. The page's trade examples, licence notes and reviews are mostly from Texas.

Good fit: a trade business that wants a trade-specific starting point fast. Weak point: the sites start from templates, and the monthly offer ends on 31 October, so check which terms apply when you ask.

Ideal Media Pro

Ideal Media Pro sells one package for home service businesses at $997 one-time: up to ten custom pages, mobile-first design, click-to-call and quote forms, a page for each service, local SEO structure and schema, Google Analytics and Search Console, business email setup, SSL and hosting setup, and 30 days of support after launch. It says you own the code and can host it anywhere. Its second package is $1,997 to set up plus $797 a month for the website plus Google Ads and Google Business Profile management, which is $11,561 in the first year.

The package lists "hosting setup", not hosting itself, so add the cost of a host. It says it serves New Jersey, Texas, New York, Pennsylvania and the rest of the country.

Good fit: a single-location trade business that wants to pay once and own the result. Weak point: a ten-page, 48 to 72 hour build only works if your content is ready, and the page's own timeline says five days.

Hook Agency

Hook Agency works only with home service and trade businesses and publishes its prices. Its standard website, "a conversion-ready contractor site with Hook code base" that goes live in about 45 days on its hosting, is $1,000 a month, which it totals as $12,000 split over twelve months. It is "only available when paired with a recurring service". A custom website is $2,000 a month, or $24,000. Its recurring services on the same page include SEO at $3,750 a month, Google Ads and Local Services Ads from $2,000 a month, and Meta ads from $3,000 a month. It says most clients invest $5,000 to $8,000 a month.

If the paired service were Google Ads management at its $2,000 starting price for the same twelve months, the first year comes to at least $36,000 before ad spend.

Good fit: an established company already spending on ads and SEO that wants the site and the marketing in one place. Weak point: the cheapest site requires an ongoing service, and the pricing page does not say who owns the site or what happens after month twelve.

Blue Corona

Blue Corona says it has built websites for contractors since 2008 and offers custom WordPress design, landing pages and website copywriting, with "no hidden fees or website ownership clauses". Its enquiry form lists HVAC, plumbing, electrical, garage doors, restoration, roofing and solar, and asks for annual revenue in bands from under $1 million to over $20 million. It publishes no website price.

Good fit: a larger home service company that wants a custom WordPress site with copywriting and marketing under one roof. Weak point: no published price, so you cannot compare it before a sales call.

One-time, monthly or retainer: which model fits

If youChooseWhy
Have one truck or a small crew, and your content readyA one-time buildYou pay once and own it; budget separately for hosting
Want no upfront bill and no technical jobsA monthly planHosting and fixes included; check the minimum term and exit terms
Already spend $5,000 or more a month on marketingA retainer agencyThe site is built around the ads and SEO you already pay for

Whichever you pick, have three answers put on paper: whose name the domain is in, who holds the site files, and what you are handed when the contract ends.

What a trade website needs, whoever builds it

These are the pages and parts that turn a search into a call. Every studio above lists most of them; make sure your quote does.

  1. A phone number you can tap at the top of every page. Someone with a burst pipe calls, they do not fill in long forms.
  2. One page per service you want more of, such as water heaters, drain cleaning or roof repair. Our services page guide shows the layout.
  3. The towns you really cover, written on the site and matching your Google Business Profile.
  4. Licence, insurance and real reviews where people see them before they call.
  5. Real job photos, not stock pictures of strangers.
  6. A short quote form for after-hours enquiries. See what to put on a contact page.

Questions to ask before you sign

Ask whether the price is one-time or monthly and for how long, whether hosting is included, who owns the domain and the site files, what you get if you cancel, how long until the site is live and what the studio needs from you first, and whether copywriting is included. To score the answers, use our agency scorecard, and for a cost picture across platforms see how much a website redesign costs.

How we work

We design websites for service businesses, with one page for every service and a clear path to a call or a booking. Each quote comes from the scope of the work, never from hours. You pay in three parts: 40% to begin, 30% when the design is approved and 30% before launch. When the last payment clears, the design, copy and code are yours. The domain, hosting and analytics accounts are in your name from the start. A WordPress build typically takes four to eight weeks from an approved design. See our WordPress development service.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a website for a contractor cost?

Going by the studios' pages on 27 October 2026, from $79 a month (MP Digital) or $695 to $997 one-time (Visible Owl, Ideal Media Pro) for small sites, up to $12,000 or $24,000 for a site sold with a marketing service (Hook Agency). Larger custom builds are quoted individually.

Is a monthly website plan a good deal for a trade business?

It can be, if hosting and fixes are included and you can leave without losing your domain. Over three years, a $79 plan costs $2,844. Before you sign, ask for the minimum term and what happens to the site if you cancel.

Do I own my website if I pay monthly?

It depends on the contract. Visible Owl says your domain and Google accounts stay in your name, and Blue Corona says it has no ownership clauses. If a pricing page does not say, ask for it in writing.

Should a contractor use WordPress or a website builder?

Either can work for a small site. What matters more is that you can change your services and towns easily and can move the site later. Our website platform guide compares the options.

How long does it take to build a home service website?

Published times range from the same day for a template site once content is ready (Visible Owl) and 48 to 72 hours (Ideal Media Pro) to about 45 days for Hook Agency's standard site. Custom builds take longer.

Do I need a separate page for each town I serve?

Pages for your main towns help when each one says something real about the work you do there. Thin copies with the town name swapped are not worth building.

Why does a top-ten list quote another price than the agency itself?

Many lists are written by competing agencies and estimate others' prices. The Ideal Media Pro list gives Hook Agency a lower website price than Hook's own page shows. Always check the studio's pricing page and its date.
