Certificates are drawn in your browser, and names, logos and signature pictures are not uploaded. The text and look settings are kept on this computer for next time.

When forty people need a certificate by Friday

One certificate is easy in any design app. The hard part is the batch, where the same design must be repeated with forty different names and nobody has time to edit each page. That is the job this page is shaped around.

Paste the names into the Many names box, one on each line. Copy two columns from a spreadsheet and the second column becomes that person's own reason line. The page count updates as you paste, and the PDF will hold one page for each person. For emailing, the ZIP option gives one picture per person, named after them, so each can be sent on its own.

Leave the box empty and you get a single certificate for the name typed above.

Choosing a kind fills in the title and the line above the name, which you can still edit. The paper colour, text colour and accent colour are three separate pickers, so a certificate can match your brand.

Signatures that look signed

Each certificate has room for two signers, with a name and a role under each line. For the signature itself you have two choices.

  • A handwriting font. Sacramento, Great Vibes, Alex Brush, Allura and Dancing Script are on offer. This is quick and consistent, but it is clearly a typeface.
  • A picture of a real signature. Sign on white paper, take a clear photo or scan, and add it as Signature picture 1 or 2. This looks more personal.

Only use a signature picture with the permission of the person it belongs to. A certificate that carries a signature nobody approved can cause trouble for the organisation that gives it out.

  1. Check the longest name in the list. Long names are made smaller to fit, so look at the preview with that one first.
  2. Print one page on plain paper and check spelling, the date and the signer roles.
  3. Set the printer to actual size, not fit to page, so the border keeps its margin.
  4. Choose heavier paper for the final run if the certificate is meant to be framed.

The PDF pages are drawn at 200 dpi, which is fine for desk printing. If a professional printer is involved, ask what resolution they want. Use the arrows next to the preview to look at each page before you download. Keep one spare printed copy of the final version, since a batch that has been sent out is hard to correct.

Wording that makes the certificate mean something

A certificate with a vague line such as thank you for your work says little. A specific reason makes it worth keeping, and the Reason field is where to put it. One sentence about what the person actually did is enough.

If you give certificates for a course on your own website, the issuing page matters as much as the certificate. A clear way to verify who earned one belongs on your site. Our Webflow development work includes member areas and course pages where that sort of thing is planned.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make certificates for many people at once?

Yes. Paste the names into the box, one on each line. The PDF gets one page per name, and the ZIP gives one PNG per name.

Can each person have their own reason line?

Yes. If you paste two columns from a spreadsheet, the second column is used as that person's reason.

What paper sizes are there?

A4 and Letter, each across or upright.

Can I add my own logo and signature?

Yes. Add a logo with the logo button and a picture of a signature in either of the two signature fields. Neither is uploaded.

Are the fonts free to use?

Yes. The title, name and signature fonts are open fonts that are served with the page, so the certificate looks the same on every computer.

Are my names saved anywhere?

Not on a server. The text and look settings are remembered on this computer so the form is filled in next time.
