Business Card Maker with a Print-Ready PDF and QR Back

Type your details and watch the front and back of the card change. When it looks right, download a PDF that a print shop can use, or a sheet of ten cards you can print at home.

A style sets the layout, back, colours and fonts. Your details and logo stay.

Fonts and colours

The card is designed and the PDF is made in your browser, and nothing is uploaded. Your details and choices are kept on this computer for next time, apart from your logo.

A card that looks good on screen can still be refused at the print counter. The usual reasons are missing bleed, text too close to the edge and no marks showing where to cut. This page builds those in, so the file you download answers the questions a printer asks.

The print PDF draws each side at 600 dpi, with a margin of extra picture beyond the trim edge, called bleed, and crop marks outside it. The bleed is 3 mm for the European size and one eighth of an inch for the US size. On screen, a red line marks the trim edge and blue dashes mark the safe area. The Show the trim line switch turns them on, and the rule is simple: keep every word inside the dashes.

Always ask your printer for their own template or specification before you order, since some ask for different bleed or a different file type.

The Start from a style row sets the layout, back, colours and fonts in one click, using your own details. Your logo stays when you switch style, so you can click through them quickly.

Using the back of the card

The back is where a card can do real work. A QR code that opens your website sends people straight to the page you want them to see. A QR code that saves a contact lets someone add you to their phone without typing, which is useful at events.

  • Choose Your website when you want the visit counted in your analytics.
  • Choose Save contact when the meeting is in person and the next step is a call.
  • Print a test and scan it with two different phones before you order a whole batch.
  • Use the Line on the back field for a short phrase, and leave the rest of the back plain if the code is the main thing.

If you want a stand-alone QR code with its own colours and logo, the QR code generator has far more styling options.

Printing at home or sending to a printer

There are three downloads. The print PDF holds the front and the back with bleed and crop marks, which is the one to send to a printer. The 10 on a sheet PDF puts ten cards on Letter paper for the US size or A4 paper for the European size, with fronts on page one and backs on page two, so you can print on both sides and cut along the marks. The front and back PNG files are for screens, such as an email or a profile.

When printing a sheet at home, set the printer to actual size, not fit to page, or the cards will come out the wrong size. Measure one after printing.

Design notes for a better card

  • Fewer lines. Name, role, one phone number, one email and a website is plenty.
  • Contrast. Small text on a coloured band needs strong contrast. Check the colour pairs before you print.
  • A logo with room. Give the logo space on the back instead of squeezing it next to the text.
  • Match your site. A card that uses the same accent colour and fonts as your website feels like part of one brand.

If the card and the site do not look related, that is usually a design system problem. Our web design and UI/UX page explains how we keep the pieces consistent.

Frequently asked questions

What size is the card?

You can choose the US size of 3.5 by 2 inches or the European size of 85 by 55 mm. Both can be laid across or upright.

What is bleed and why does the PDF have it?

Bleed is extra picture past the cut line, so a small cutting error does not leave a white edge. The print PDF adds 3 mm for the European size and one eighth of an inch for the US size.

Can I print the cards at home?

Yes. Download the 10 on a sheet PDF, print it at actual size on both sides, and cut along the crop marks.

What does the QR code on the back do?

It can open your website or offer to save your contact details as a vCard. You choose which in the QR opens setting.

Is my logo uploaded?

No. The logo is read and drawn in your browser, and it is not stored for next time.

Do you keep my details?

No. Your details stay in this browser so the form is filled in next time, and the Clear my details button removes them.
