Webflow Forms in 2026: How to Set Them Up, the Limits on Each Plan, and How to Fix One That Stops Sending

A Webflow form looks simple: drop in a form block, publish, done. The trouble starts later, when a free plan runs out of submissions, notification emails land in spam, or someone clicks unsubscribe and nobody notices. This guide puts Webflow's own rules for forms in one place, read from its pricing page and help centre on 26 October 2026, and ends with a fix list in the order we would check it.

Webflow Forms in 2026: How to Set Them Up, the Limits on Each Plan, and How to Fix One That Stops Sending

Key takeaways

  • The free Starter plan allows 50 form submissions in total, and the count never resets. Webflow's help centre says this limit is lifetime and that every paid Site plan has unlimited submissions.
  • A form on your own domain needs a paid Site plan. On the webflow.io address, submissions work without one. On an exported site, Webflow does not process forms at all.
  • File uploads need Premium or higher. Each file can be up to 10 MB, a form can hold up to 20 upload buttons, and storage is free to 10 GB, then $0.50 a GB a month, with a hard stop at 100 GB.
  • Most "my form stopped working" cases are settings, not bugs. A blanked notification address (often from an unsubscribe click), a missing reCAPTCHA element, a hidden required field or a role-based inbox such as info@ explain most of them.
  • Only some roles can change form settings. Owners, admins, site managers and designers can. Marketers and content editors can only view and export submissions.

The short answer

To use Webflow forms on a business site, put the site on a paid Site plan (Basic, $15 monthly on a yearly bill, is enough for forms without file uploads), give every form a clear name, send notifications to a person's address rather than info@, and turn on both spam filtering and bot blocking in Site settings. If a form stops sending, submit a test on the live site and look in Site settings > Forms: if the test is there, the problem is the email; if it is not, the problem is the form.

Disclosure: we are a web design studio that builds on Webflow and other platforms. Webflow does not pay us. Everything below comes from Webflow's pricing page and help centre, read on 26 October 2026, unless we say otherwise.

What the ranking pages say, and what is wrong or missing

On 26 October 2026 we searched Google (United States, English) for "webflow forms" and "webflow form not working fix". The first query returned almost nothing but Webflow: its help centre, Webflow University videos, the made-in-Webflow gallery and its integrations directory. The second added FlowAppz ("Webflow form not submitting? Work through these eight causes in order", 12 July 2026), skrol.agency (15 June 2026), Reddit and the Webflow community forum.

We read the FlowAppz guide in full. Its diagnosis steps are good, especially telling apart "the form did not submit" from "the email did not arrive". One point does not match Webflow's own page: it says submissions are capped per plan and reset monthly. Webflow's help centre says the free Starter plan has 50 submissions in total, that the limit does not reset, and that every other Site plan is unlimited.

Webflow's own rules, meanwhile, are spread across at least five help articles. No page we found puts the plan limits, the notification rules, the file upload limits, the spam settings and the role permissions together. That is what this page does.

Sources: Webflow pricing page and the help articles "Form submissions", "How do I add forms in Webflow?" and "Form file upload", all read 26 October 2026. All figures are USD per site, before tax. Webflow's help centre also lists file upload on the Ecommerce Plus and Ecommerce Advanced plans and on the legacy Business plan.

Two more rules from the same pages:

  • The sender is Webflow's address. Notifications come from no-reply-forms@webflow.com, and on Starter, Core and Freelancer Workspaces the sender name includes "Webflow Forms". Webflow says a Growth Workspace sends from an unbranded address, no-reply@webforms.io.
  • File uploads have their own limits. One file per upload button, up to 10 MB, up to 20 buttons per form. Webflow blocks some file types for security, including .exe, .apk, .bat, .sh and .jar. By default only people logged in to Webflow can open uploaded files, even with the link.

How to set up a Webflow form properly

Webflow's "How do I add forms in Webflow?" article (dated 18 May 2026 in Google's results) covers the mechanics. Here is the order we follow on a client site, with the reason for each step.

  1. Add a Form block, not loose fields. Every input has to sit inside the form wrapper, and the button has to be a Form button. A regular button will not submit.
  2. Keep the labels. Webflow notes that labels help screen reader users and that placeholder text is not read by them and disappears as people type. Our contact page guide covers which fields to ask for.
  3. Name the form. Every new form is called "Email Form". If two forms share that name, their submissions land in the same table and you cannot tell them apart.
  4. Write the success and error messages. Webflow suggests putting a contact email in the error message, so a visitor whose submission fails still has a way to reach you.
  5. Choose where submissions go. The options are Webflow (stored in Site settings > Forms), email notifications, webhooks, connected apps such as HubSpot, Zapier or Make, or a custom action. A custom action sends data straight to another service and cannot be combined with Webflow storage or email, so Webflow sends no notifications. If you need both, Webflow recommends an app instead.
  6. Set notifications to a person's address. Webflow's help centre warns that role-based addresses such as info@, admin@ and support@ are more likely to be filtered as spam. Set the reply-to to the visitor's email field so you can reply straight from your inbox.
  7. Turn on spam protection (next section).
  8. Publish and test on the live domain. Form changes only take effect after you publish.

If personal data is collected from people in the EU or UK, Webflow's help centre reminds site owners that they are the data controller under GDPR and should get consent where required. That is not legal advice, from Webflow or from us; check with a professional for your case.

Stopping spam

Webflow's "Prevent spam in form submissions" article lists four methods:

MethodWhereNote
Spam filteringSite settings > Apps & Integrations > Cloudflare Turnstile spam protectionChecks all form data; Webflow says it is on by default on new sites
Bot blockingSame placeAnalyses mouse movement and inputs; submit buttons are disabled while it loads
reCAPTCHASite settings, plus a reCAPTCHA element in each formIf it is on, every form must contain the element or it will not submit
HoneypotA hidden field plus custom codeWebflow has a separate guide for it

Webflow recommends keeping both spam filtering and bot blocking on. When bot blocking is on, style the button's disabled state so visitors understand why it cannot be clicked for a moment.

Why a Webflow form stops working, and how to fix it

Start with one test. Webflow's "Why am I not receiving form notification emails?" article (dated 11 March 2026 in Google's results) says to publish, submit the form on the live site, and then look in Site settings > Forms.

If the test submission is not in Site settings > Forms

CheckWhy it breaks
Plan and domainA custom domain needs an active Site plan. Starter stops collecting after 50 submissions in total.
Custom actionIt bypasses Webflow, so nothing is stored or emailed
Submit buttonA plain button inside the form does not submit it
Hidden required fieldsA required field that is hidden (for example on one breakpoint only) blocks the form
reCAPTCHAIf enabled in Site settings, a form without the reCAPTCHA element fails
Exported siteWebflow does not process forms on sites hosted elsewhere

If the submission is there but the email never arrived

CheckWhat to do
The To field is blankSomeone may have clicked the unsubscribe link in a notification email, which removes the address. Add it back and republish.
Spam folderMark the message as safe
Sender addressesAdd no-reply@webflow.com, no-reply@webforms.io and no-reply-forms@webflow.com to your safe senders
Role-based inboxSwitch to a named address such as jane@
Still nothingWebflow says the address may be on its blocklist if your provider rejected its emails before; its support team can remove the block

Two habits prevent most of these: send submissions somewhere a person checks every day, and submit a real test every month. A form that has been silent for six weeks costs far more than one that broke yesterday. For a wider view of why a site gets visits but no enquiries, see why your website is not converting.

Who on your team can change a form

Since Webflow retired its legacy Editor on 5 October 2026, people edit sites with a Webflow account and a role. Webflow's "Legacy Editor deprecation FAQ" says none of the roles available to limited or client seats can edit form settings: only owners, admins, site managers and designers can. Marketers and content editors can view and download submissions. So if a staff member needs to change where notifications go, someone with a design or admin role has to do it. Seats and roles are explained further in how the Webflow CMS works for owners.

When to use a third-party form instead

Webflow's native form covers contact, quote and simple application forms well. A form tool or your CRM's own form is the better choice when you need conditional questions, payments, multi-step flows with saved progress, or files over 10 MB. Connect it through an app or an embed, and remember that a custom action means Webflow stores nothing.

If you are still deciding on a platform, our Webflow vs WordPress comparison and Webflow cost guide cover the wider picture.

How we can help

We set up forms, notifications, spam protection and integrations as part of every Webflow development project, and we keep them tested on live sites through Webflow maintenance. Work is priced from the scope, never by the hour, and the client owns the design, copy and code once the final payment is made.

Frequently asked questions

How many form submissions does Webflow allow?

On the free Starter plan, 50 in total, and the count does not reset. Every paid Site plan has unlimited submissions, according to Webflow's help centre on 26 October 2026.

Are Webflow forms free?

You can build and test them for free on a webflow.io address, up to 50 submissions in total. Collecting them on your own domain takes a paid Site plan; Basic, the cheapest, was $15 a month on yearly billing.

Where do Webflow form submissions go?

By default they are stored in Site settings > Forms and emailed to the account's address. You can add other recipients, webhooks or apps such as HubSpot or Zapier, and export submissions as a CSV file.

Why am I not getting Webflow form emails?

Check that the form's To field still has your address (an unsubscribe click clears it), check your spam folder, avoid info@ style addresses, and add Webflow's three sender addresses to your safe senders. If a test submission is missing from Site settings > Forms, the form itself is the problem.

Can Webflow forms accept file uploads?

Yes, on Premium and some Ecommerce plans. Each file can be up to 10 MB, and storage is free up to 10 GB, then $0.50 per GB a month, up to a hard limit of 100 GB.

Do Webflow forms work if I export the code?

No. Webflow's help centre says forms on exported sites are not processed, so you would need a third-party form service.

How do I stop spam on Webflow forms?

Turn on spam filtering and bot blocking under Cloudflare Turnstile spam protection in Site settings. Add reCAPTCHA or a honeypot field if spam still gets through.
