Text Repeater: Repeat a Line, Number the Copies, Pick the Gap

Type a word, a sentence or a whole block, choose how many copies you want and what goes between them, and the result fills the box straight away. Put a counter marker in the text and each copy gets its own number, which is handy for test emails, dummy rows and placeholder lists.

Tip: write {n} where the copy's number should go, as in user{n}@example.com.

The text is repeated in your browser and is never sent anywhere. Only your count and separator settings are kept on your own device, not the text itself.

When you need the same thing many times over

A repeater earns its place when you are filling something that has to look full. A designer wants forty rows in a table to see how it wraps. A developer wants a long string to test a field limit. A marketer wants a block of sample comments to check a layout before real ones exist. Typing or copy and pasting that by hand is slow and easy to get wrong.

Here you type the text once in the top box. The side column sets how many times it is repeated, from 1 up to 100,000, and what sits between the copies. The result appears in the lower box as you type, and a line of status text under it tells you how many characters and lines you have made.

Choosing what goes between the copies

OptionWhat you getTypical use
New lineEach copy on its own lineLists, rows to paste into a spreadsheet
SpaceCopies side by side in one lineFilling a text field with long content
CommaA comma and a space after each copyQuick arrays and tag lists
NothingCopies run together with no gapPatterns, borders, emoji strips
My ownAny text you type, such as a pipe or a tabSpecial formats

In the custom box you can write \n for a new line and \t for a tab, and both are turned into the real character. That lets you build tab separated data without typing a tab into a form field.

Numbered copies and the counter marker

There are two ways to count. Tick the number each copy box and every copy starts with its number and a full stop. Or write {n} inside your text, and that spot is replaced by the number of the copy. So user{n}@example.com repeated five times gives five different test addresses.

  • The start box lets you begin at any whole number, including 0 or a number far above 1.
  • If your text has several lines, a tick box appears that repeats each line on its own, so line one is copied first, then line two, with the count carrying on.
  • The start box only shows when numbering is on or your text contains the marker, which keeps the panel short.

Limits and habits worth knowing

The tool refuses to build anything above 5 million characters and tells you to use fewer repeats. Very long results are not shown in full, since only the first 200,000 characters are displayed to keep the page quick. The Copy button and the Download button still use the complete result, so nothing is cut when you take it away.

  • Check the status line before you paste. It shows the real length, which is useful when you are aiming for a field that has a character cap.
  • Use the download for very large results, because a browser can be slow when you paste millions of characters into another page.
  • An empty top box produces an empty result and a reminder to type something.
  • Repeating a line break inside the text is fine, but then decide whether you want the block repeated as one piece or line by line.

Using it while building a website

Long and repeated content shows problems that short sample text hides, such as a card that stretches the grid or a heading that wraps badly on a phone. Before a CMS is filled, a repeated block can stand in for entries and show how a collection page behaves. If you are planning that kind of build, our Webflow development page explains how we set up collections so real entries slot in without redoing the layout.

Frequently asked questions

How many times can I repeat the text?

You can enter any whole number from 1 up to 100,000. If the total would pass 5 million characters, the tool asks you to use fewer repeats.

How do I make each copy different?

Write {n} where the number should go, or tick the numbering box. The counter starts at 1 unless you set another start.

Can I put every copy on a new line?

Yes. New line is the default choice between copies, so each repeat sits on its own row, ready to paste into a list or sheet.

Why does a huge result look cut short in the box?

The box only shows the first 200,000 characters so the page stays fast. Copy and Download both give you the full result.

Can I use a tab or a pipe between copies?

Choose My own and type what you want. Writing \t gives a tab and \n gives a new line.

Does it work with emoji?

Yes. The starting text is an emoji example, and any characters you can type or paste are repeated as they are.
