Case Converter for Headlines, Sentences and Code Names
Paste text, pick a style and the case changes in place, for the whole box or just the part you selected. Title case follows Chicago or APA rules, and a keep list protects names and brands.
Text is changed in your browser and is never uploaded. Your chosen style and keep list are saved on your own device, but the text itself is not.
Fixing text that came in the wrong case
The usual jobs are a headline typed in capitals, a product list pasted in lower case, and a heading that needs the house style. Paste the text, press a button and the case is swapped in place. Undo steps back, and the normal undo shortcut works too, so you can try three styles and return to the first.
Select only a line and only that line changes, which is handy for fixing one heading inside a longer document.
The styles available
| Style | Result |
|---|---|
| Sentence case | Capital at the start of each sentence, the rest lower |
| Title Case | Capital on main words, small words kept lower |
| Capitalised Case | Capital on every word |
| UPPER and lower | Every letter changed |
| aLtErNaTiNg and iNVERSE | Playful patterns |
| camelCase, PascalCase | Words joined, no spaces, with capitals as separators |
| snake_case, kebab-case | Lower case joined with underscores or hyphens |
| CONSTANT_CASE, dot.case | Upper case with underscores, or lower with dots |
Chicago or APA for title case
Title case is not one rule. Chicago keeps articles, short conjunctions and prepositions of four letters or fewer in lower case. APA lowers only the minor words of three letters or fewer. Both always capitalise the first word, and the tool also capitalises the word after a colon. Choose the style your client or publication uses from the list under the buttons.
Words that already carry capitals inside, such as iPhone or NASA, are left alone, unless the line was typed in all capitals, in which case there is nothing real to protect.
Keeping names and brands as written
Sentence case, Capitalised Case and Title Case run through your keep list afterwards. Type brand names or product terms separated by commas, such as a platform name written with its own capitals, and they come back exactly as you typed them wherever they appear as whole words.
- Add names of people and places.
- Add product names with unusual capitals.
- Add acronyms you want kept in capitals.
Writing headlines in the right case
Sentence case reads calmer and is common in product interfaces and many blogs. Title case feels more formal and is common in book and article titles. Neither is wrong. What matters is that a site uses one style for the same kind of heading, since mixed styles look careless. Convert a whole list of headings in one go by pasting them one per line, because each line is treated on its own.
Things to check after converting
- Read sentence case results for names of people, places and products, and add them to the keep list so they return with the right capitals.
- Check the word after a colon or a dash in a title, since styles differ on what follows.
- Look at the lone letter i. The tool turns a standalone i into a capital I in sentence case, but other short words need a manual glance.
- Be careful with alternating and inverse styles, which are meant for effects, not for text people need to read or search for.
Code styles for file and class names
The code buttons split text at spaces, punctuation and existing capital humps, so a phrase from a design file can become a class or file name in one press. Our Webflow development work uses naming conventions like this to keep builds easy to maintain.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between sentence case and title case?
Sentence case capitalises only the first word of each sentence. Title case capitalises the main words of a heading and leaves small words like of and the in lower case.
Which title case style should I pick?
Use the one your client or publication names. If none is named, Chicago is a common choice for general writing.
Will it change only part of my text?
Yes. Select the part you want and only that selection changes.
Can I undo a conversion?
Yes, use the Undo button or your normal undo shortcut.
Does it remember my text?
No. Only the style and your keep list are saved on your device, never the text.
What happens to line breaks in code styles?
Each line is converted on its own, so a list of phrases becomes a list of names.
Does title case change small words like of and the?
It keeps them in lower case when they sit in the middle of a title, and capitalises them at the start or after a colon. The exact list depends on whether you picked Chicago or APA.
